Market Attendant—2026 Season

Mal’s Fresh Produce Place

Job Type: Part Time, Hourly, Seasonal (Great for College Students)

Work Location: Morgantown or Fairmont

Pay Rate: $12/hour + Commission

Season Commitment:

This seasonal role requires availability through the majority of the season (April–October). If interviewed, please be ready to share any summer plans and known schedule conflicts.

Position Overview:

This role is ideal for college students seeking hands-on retail experience in a fun, outdoor work environment. You’ll gain exposure to fresh produce, plants, and local agriculture while learning the basics of entrepreneurship and merchandising. This position also builds valuable, résumé-ready skills in customer service, sales, and retail operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Work scheduled shifts and can work varied hours and days as dictated by business needs
  • Follow selling initiatives using GROW
  • Follow policies and procedures in a daily work routine
  • Cash handling and operate a POS system
  • Follow a Planogram to set up and take down displays daily
  • Maintains a professional and customer-friendly attitude
  • Keeps workspace picked up, clean, and displays up to standards
  • Communicates regularly with Owner, Manager, and Team members
  • Follows safety protocols to maintain a safe working and shopping environment
  • Work Well in a Team and independently
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays during peak season
  • A smart phone is required to utilize work-related apps and communications
  • Required to perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications Expected:

  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • Cashier Experience
  • Experience or desire to learn about produce, plants, cooking and retail
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to read, write, and count accurately
  • Reliable transportation

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift or carry up to 50lbs
  • Ability to lift over 50lbs with assistance
  • Walk, stand, pull, push, bend, and stoop for an entire shift
  • Ability to work long hours in all outdoor weather conditions including but not limited to heat, rain, wind, etc.
