CAREER AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CENTER
The Statler College is excited to announce the development of its new Career & Professional Development Center (CPDC) to support engineering, computing, and technology students and alumni in enhancing their career readiness skills. The CPDC will offer specialized services through a variety of formats, including one-on-one appointments (both in-person and virtual), classroom presentations, seminars, Industry Day Events, company site visits, and more.
Services provided by the CPDC include:
Personalized Support for Statler College Students and Alumni

- Career Exploration is tailored to engineering, computing, and technology majors
- Establish career action plans
- Review of career documents with follow-up recommendations
Networking and Professional Development
- Craft a compelling elevator pitch
- Build professional connections via LinkedIn and other platforms
- Informational Interview Instructions
- Succeed at career fairs and navigating the job market
Practical Career Preparation and Resource Management
- Job search strategies, including simulations, experiential learning, job shadowing, on-campus and off-campus jobs, internships, co-ops, volunteer opportunities, and more
- Access to professional attire and headshot photos
- Mock interview practice
- Federal/Government application guidance
Long-term Career Planning
- Evaluating job offers and negotiating salaries
- Guidance on personal/teaching statements, CVs, and graduate school applications
- Planning professional development strategies for the workforce
Tailored Educational Opportunities
- Classroom and seminar presentations
- Career readiness orientation courses
Collaboration and Communication
- Partnering with faculty, staff, employers, alumni, and university departments
- Organize and participate in employer visits, career fairs, and student-focused initiatives to enhance employer presence
- Analyze job market trends, employer feedback, and recruitment data to improve student preparedness, track hiring results, and develop targeted strategies for underrepresented academic disciplines
- Schedule interview room reservations
