As you conduct your job or internship search, remember that the Career Services Team and is here to help with a variety of resources and tips to guide your process.

  • Define Your Goals and Preferences. Outline your career goals, preferred industries, and types of roles you are interested in. Defining your goals will help target your search.
  • Utilize Resources. Take advantage of career services, job boards, alumni networks, and on-campus events. See below for resources that can provide valuable search platforms and networking opportunities.
  • Network Actively. Build and maintain professional relationships with professors, classmates, alumni, and professionals in your field of interest. Consider joining LinkedIn and other platforms for networking opportunities.

By defining your goals, utilizing these resources, customizing your application materials, and actively networking, you can conduct a targeted and successful job search.

Schedule an appointment with your Career Development Specialist through your Handshake account and let us assist you in achieving your goals. Log in using your WVU login credentials.

Next Steps

  • Update your Handshake profile to 100% complete.
  • Visit Jobs in Handshake and save your preferred filters.
  • Research and identify industries, employers or specific jobs that match your career goals and interests.
  • Identify individual companies and organizations whose reputations and expertise appeal to you using Handshake.
  • Network with alumni and personal contacts working in the field or the specific company you’re interested in.
  • Attend a Career Services hosted program in the area of networking, job search strategies, career fairs or other related topics searching in Handshake using your filters. You can also build and save your events search preferences in Handshake.

Logging in from WVU’s campus

  • Step 1: GoinGlobal WVU Access
  • Step 2: On the home page scroll down and on the right side of the page, you will see “Personalize your GoinGlobal experience” 
  • Step 3: Click on the little Globe icon on the far right and create your account.  
  • Step 4: Familiarize yourself with the platform, the resources, and opportunities, explore your options, and feel free to schedule an appointment with your Career Development Specialist if you have any questions, and to discuss your journey and preparation.

Logging in from home and from WVU’s other campuses

  • Connect to GoinGlobal via Handshake; Handshake’s secure sign-in will also authenticate you for GoinGlobal.
    • If the link does not take you directly to the GoinGlobal page on Handshake, then from the Handshake homepage follow these steps:
    • Once logged into Handshake, click on Career Center, then Resources.
    • On the resource page, click on GoinGlobal and select the external link.
