Journalism

The West Virginia Legislature is offering two journalism internships for the Spring 2024 semester. Interns will work with members of both the Senate and House of Delegates during the 60-day legislative session, from January 6 to April 12, through the Office of Reference & Information. Responsibilities include covering floor sessions, committee meetings, public hearings, and press conferences, and writing daily recaps. Selected applicants must reside in Charleston for the duration of the internship and will receive a $5,200 stipend. Also, upon completion of the legislative internship program, each intern will receive three credit hours towards their degree. To apply, click here.  

WVVA TV is hiring a full-time Multimedia Journalist to produce compelling, original news content across TV, web, and social media platforms. This paid role is located in Bluefield, W.V, and requires strong storytelling, research, and video production skills, including the ability to shoot, write, edit, and report live. A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field is preferred, along with some anchoring experience. To learn more, click here.

The Maccabi Media Program is offering a career-development opportunity for aspiring Jewish sports media professionals, offering hands-on experience covering the 2026 Maccabiah Games in Israel. Open to college students or recent graduates in communications-related fields, the program includes virtual trainings, a pre-departure camp in Philadelphia (June 25–July 20, 2026), and a 3-week international media assignment in Israel. Participants will take on roles such as play-by-play, reporting, videography, editing, social media content creation, and design. For more information, click here.

The Seattle Times is offering a Metro Reporter Internship for Summer 2026 in Seattle, WA. This full-time role pays $20.76 an hour and provides hands-on experience with real assignments, including breaking news, trending topics, and enterprise reporting. Interns will pitch stories, conduct interviews, collaborate with visuals teams, and work on both digital and print platforms. WOWK-TV is hiring a full-time Streaming Content Creator to produce engaging, digital-first video content for their website, apps, and social media platforms. This paid role is based in Charleston, W.V., and includes producing and editing video using OBS Studio and Premiere Pro, supporting reporters, optimizing content for SEO, and analyzing audience engagement. Advertising and Public Relations

Marigold and Marie is seeking a Digital Marketing & E-Commerce Intern to support its growing online presence. This remote internship offers $11 to $14 an hour for 8 to 15 hours per week. Interns will assist in creating and optimizing digital ad campaigns and tracking e-commerce performance through tools like Shopify and social media insights. Additional responsibilities include maintaining digital workflows in Notion and Asana, supporting SEO and website updates, and researching trends and strategies aligned with sustainable fashion. Ideal candidates are juniors, seniors, or graduate students in marketing or related fields, with familiarity in platforms like Canva, Shopify, Google Ads, and Meta Ads. WVU’s Prospect & Price Creative is hiring part-time Marketing Assistants to join their PR team. This paid role offers remote, hybrid, or on-site work in Morgantown, W.V. Assistants will be involved in collaborating with local businesses and campus departments to create and promote marketing campaigns. Responsibilities include brainstorming promotions, executing PR tasks, attending weekly meetings, underwriting radio ads, and serving as marketing consultants. Nemacolin Resort and Spa is offering a Marketing/PR Internship for Summer 2026 in Farmington, PA. This 12-week opportunity pays $15.98 per hour and is open to second- and third-year students studying Marketing, PR, or Hospitality Management. Interns will support the Marketing and PR team in campaign execution, brand development, resort promotions, and administrative tasks. BHE GT&S is searching for a Communications Intern to work with their Communications Department in Bridgeport, WV. The 8 to 11-week summer internship includes responsibilities such as creating internal and external communications and assisting with creative design work for corporate campaigns like Compliance and Ethics Week. Seagate is offering a Digital Communications Internship at its Singapore location. The intern will work under the Training Supervisor at the Operation Training Department, helping to revamp the department’s training website and create engaging digital training materials, including videos. The Dow Jones News Fund (DJNF) is offering Summer Internship Programs in areas such as Audience Engagement, Business Reporting, Data Journalism, Digital Media, and Multiplatform Editing.  These full-time internships run from June 8 to August 14, 2026, and pay $15-20 an hour. The program begins with a one-week specialized training session before interns begin 10–12 weeks of work at top media organizations. Opportunities are available in-person, remote, or hybrid, with locations in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and more. To learn more, click here.

The WVU Hospitality Group is seeking a Marketing Intern to work on-site in Morgantown, WV. This part-time internship pays $14 an hour and provides hands-on experience in marketing strategy, promotions, and student engagement within the food services industry. Purpose Center Opportunities

Strength 101 – Exclusive for CCAM students during Mock Interview and Audition Day! Strengths 101 is an introductory session to help students lay the foundation and continue learning about strengths. Students will learn some quick history/facts and then dive into some reflection and practical application for their top five strengths. The sessions take place at Evansdale Crossing.

Wellbeing Pods to learn Strength-Based Strategies

During this 4-part, in-person series for students, you’ll work with small groups and faculty/staff from the WVU Carruth Center and Purpose Center to learn your top 5 CliftonStrengths and how to leverage them for better wellbeing. In these interactive sessions, you will learn to understand your own strengths and how effectively using them can impact overall wellbeing, apply your strengths to preventative self-care, explore and prevent overwhelm, and combat Imposter Syndrome using your unique talents. This pod is limited to the first 20 students who register. By registering, you are committing to attend all three sessions. LOCATION IS at the WVU MOUNTAINLAIR in the Greenbrier Room. This initiative is a collaboration between the WVU Purpose Center and the WVU Carruth Center.

Finding Your Voice Through Purpose

The LGBTQ+ Center, WVU Purpose Center, and REACH are joining forces to help you learn to become the advocate that you want to be! In this 3-part series, you’ll identify your values, explore your strengths, and figure out how to balance your responsibilities as a student with pursuing your passions and meeting your own needs outside of the classroom. Bring your lunch, your curiosity, and your enthusiasm! All are welcome to join!

Strengths-Based Leadership Pod for Students

During this 4-part, in-person series, you’ll work with small groups and staff from the WVU Purpose Center and Adventure WV to learn your top 5 CliftonStrengths® and how to leverage them to become a stronger, more effective leader. In our interactive sessions you will learn about: Your own personal leadership styles and the effectiveness of each style, needs of your followers, and how to provide strengths-based feedback. This pod is open to any student and any major, however it is limited to the first 20 students who register. By registering, you are committing to attend all four sessions. This initiative is a collaboration between the WVU Purpose Center and Adventure WV.
